Community service is important to Christians because it allows us to make a positive impact in our communities and is a powerful way to bring the light of Christ to the world. No wonder Candidates are required to do it as they prepare for their Confirmation!
Although Confirmation sponsors are not catechists, it’s important for them to be fully prepared to discuss the core beliefs and teachings of the Catholic Church with their candidates. In other words, you need to be ready to talk about your faith!
A Catholic Confirmation Sponsor must be a good spiritual guide and mentor, but the Catholic Church has some specific guidelines too!
Sponsors must help their candidates fulfill their baptismal promises. This is where the work comes in!
